If you are like most parents today, you are probably having trouble finding just a few minutes every day to spend a little quality time with with your kids. If that’s you, you aren’t alone.
For me, it’s been a daily struggle in the past.
Like most moms, I have always had a to-do list a mile long. There always are so many seemingly urgent tasks that need to be done and done NOW! Even now, it seems that things get placed on my little plate very quickly (sigh).
I’ve got good news for you.
With a daily diligent effort on my part, I’ve been able to spend alone time with each of my 7 kids most days. It may be the very thing that has strengthened the relationships with them more than anything else.
A few years ago, I put all my other projects on hold and made a giant effort to carve out time to just show each one of my treasures that I genuinely wanted to spend time with them.
That’s because I really DID!
You’ve heard it before: Kids spell love T-I-M-E.
It’s soooooo true!
Whether they are 10 months, 10 or 17, kids love their mamas and want some time with you.
There are different ways of getting it done, but I write down every trick I learn and idea that really works. And then I forward it over to all you other moms.
One of the very first things I wanted to do on my blog was to share all this with a whole world of Christian moms! So, I made a FREE printable with a bonus email course so every mom could get this valuable resource and start their journey right away!
I’m not gonna promise this will work every day of the year, but I’m tellin’ y’all, with just a bit of effort, you can get 5 minutes in with a kid. And if you have a few kids, or several like me, you can still make it work!!!
Will it be like a totally awesome 5 minute trip to Disney World?
Will it be like handing a kid a $100 bill in a candy store?
Will it be like Christmas morning?
No, it will be better.
Really.
Your child might not tell you every time, but this quality time you take with them will fill their little love tank up and they will feel special by the one lady that was put on earth to be their momma.
Little kids and teens both need this. Let’s just be honest, even adult kids need time with their mama!
Here’s what I say: let’s start small and look for the rewards. I know if you keep up this everyday, you WILL see the fruits of these small 5 minute “seeds”.

But, really, why should I bother???
It’s just a few minutes.
I’m not sure that will really make a difference.
I’ll be honest. Even with my success, most days I still wonder if I’ll be able to do it.
You know why? Well, Satan knows that this seemingly small amount of time is making an impact in our family’s lives. He knows that it’s helping us bond better, trust more, and just simply feel uniquely special to one another.
Satan doesn’t want that.
He knows strong Christian families can help spread the love of Jesus more. These families have deeper faiths and continue to grow in that faith as a result. Kids who have deeper relationships with their parents do better with everything, even sports and school!
No wonder Satan’s out to stomp on anything pro-Jesus and pro-family.
I think it’s normal for each of us to ask ourselves if we can really fit in time with our kids every single day. Satan will want us to doubt and to me, that’s all the more reason to put forth a great effort to just take that 5 minutes with each child.
To help you, I’ve got you 2 new “tools” to put in your parenting toolbox:
First, I have you just a printable list of some easy, quick and unique ways to spend these 5 minutes with your kids. I have ideas that will be great for most ages, from babies all the way up to adult children (yes, they need time with us too and you need it too).
Second, I’ve written some specific helpful tips I’ll send by email over the next couple of weeks to help move you along and help you remember. I want to help you defeat any negativity that might come your way.

Sound like something you’d like to do with me?
I love a walking partner!
We can do this together and I’ll cheer you on.
Yeah, this isn’t a race. It’s not a contest. It’s really just love shown with 5 minutes of your time to your most precious treasures. After all, they are the only treasures you can take up to heaven one day.
